New Commercial Property Website Launched

September 3, 2014 By Tracey

Source: NZ Herald Online 04 August 2014

A new website for commercial property, which combines the Herald’s national listings of property and businesses for sale with expert editorial writing, data insights and market analysis, was launched in August.

Called TrueCommercial, the website is APN NZ Media’s latest digital venture and is a first for Australasia.

“We are bringing New Zealand commercial property with perspective,” said company chief marketing officer Kursten Shalfoon.

“It’s the only website offering much more than national property listings – you will find trusted opinion, advice, key data trends and the latest property research.”

The site extends the success of the Herald‘s Commercial Property section. The twice-weekly publication, which has a readership of 138,000, will be rebranded TrueCommercial.

Confidence in the commercial property sector is at a near record high and market conditions are favourable, said APN’s group sales director David Hoath.

“We have received a positive response and immediate support for the launch of TrueCommercial from the industry, allowing us to start with a strong foundation.”

TrueCommercial.co.nz will also feature the Herald’s website navigation bar for easy access.

The site will pull in the latest newsfeed articles as well as special content from Commercial Property editor Colin Taylor.

The Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) is pushing for change to the way the Fire Service is funded, arguing the existing Fire Service Levy unfairly places the burden on insurers rather than the Government for the provision of a public good.

The Government is now rethinking the Earthquake-prone Buildings Amendment Bill after strong criticism at the number of heritage buildings that would be lost.

A-Grade Office Space in Whangarei?

September 3, 2014 By Tracey

By Sarah Hirst

This could be a very short article if I were to list and describe the A Grade office space currently available in Whangarei. A-Grade office space means buildings that have excellent location and access that attract high quality tenants, and are usually managed professionally. Building materials are high quality and rents are competitive with other new buildings. There’s some of course and those Landlords providing these spaces are securing quality tenants on good lease terms. [Read more…]

How colour can transfer your commercial space

July 24, 2014 By Tracey

By Richard Cranenburgh

Kiwis have a reputation for being creative and resourceful. Yet more often than not the commercial spaces we work in do not reflect this. A commercial premises needs to work on an aesthetic level for a number of reasons, starting with attracting and retaining good tenants.

I also believe strongly that the buildings we work in day after day have the potential to alter our emotions, either positively or negatively. People spend a good percentage of time at work so let’s make it an experience to visit the building for those who work in it every day – and for clients when they visit. [Read more…]

Does your Long Term Maintenance Plan Measure Up?

July 24, 2014 By Tracey

By Tracey Rissetto

It always amazes me how far water can travel, especially INSIDE a building.  With the wild weather we have been having, leaks (both old and new) have appeared or grown, which brings us to the question of Maintenance.

A Long Term Maintenance Plan (LMTP) gives commercial property owners an understanding of the types of expenditure you should be allowing for and an awareness of the likely timing of major expenditure items.  Over time, a maintenance plan will enable prospective purchasers to see that maintenance has been planned for and executed, and will add value to your property as a whole.

Warranties on building materials may require regular attendance to maintenance issues in order to remain valid, for example regular building washes.

Keeping up to date with the ongoing maintenance costs will not only help you keep your balance sheet in the black, it will help you maintain the value of your asset. [Read more…]

Action needed on high-rise maintenance

July 24, 2014 By Tracey

The failure to squirrel away enough money to pay for the long-term maintenance of multi-unit dwellings like high-rise apartment blocks must be addressed before the country further intensifies its cities, warns the Home Owners and Buyers Association (Hobanz).

The lobby and consultancy group, set up during the leaky homes crisis, alleges that many body corporates have woefully inadequate long-term maintenance plans (LTMP), and simply aren’t salting enough away to pay for future maintenance. [Read more…]
